Manuka honey MGO 100+ 400+ or 550+

€19,90

Manuka honey is called “the all-round talent from New Zealand” and for good reason :)

We chose to add the “Manuka Health” Manuka honey to our collection because it has earned its name on the market. Manuka Health can guarantee quality and origin, offer clean honey without hidden nasties and come 100% from New Zealand.

Why would you want to use Manuka honey?
Because your entire system could benefit from it! Let us quote Detlef Mix, a writer and alternative healer, talking about the connection between skin, lungs and the large intestine:

“Chinese Medicine sees every organ and disease in connection with the energetic state of the entire body. The aim is not to suppress the symptoms, but above all to trace the cause and thus restore the balance. For example, it is suspected that there is a connection between pathological skin conditions and impaired gut health.
This view focusses on remediation of the intestines and the avoidance of foods that, because of latent intolerance, repeatedly keep the immune system of the intestines working unnecessarily.
To compensate for the lack of energy, the intestines prefer to use the lungs and skin as partner organs. The ancient Chinese doctors are said to have been paid to keep their patients healthy.
(…)
In acne, both the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of Manuka honey work. Also in neurodermatitis or psoriasis, the anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, moisturising and nourishing effect of honey can contribute to the regeneration of the skin and the well-being of the patient.”
<End of quote>

The how-to-use is actually pretty simple (which we like a lot since #fair #simple #pure are the 3 Akasha blends brand's pillars), and all 3 options you can choose from come in a quantity of 250g.
We offer 3 different MGO-qualities: 100+ 400+ and 550+. MGO stands for MethylGlyOxal which is the anti-bacterial properties/components. The + represents that there is at least this number of MGO in the honey but can actually be a bit more.
And in case you wonder why there is no UMF written on the pots: UMF means Unique Manuka Factor but is mostly not used anymore. It’s all about the MGO’s nowadays ;)

But, how to choose your MGO right? In case you thought that a higher MGO is always best, then we may have good news for you!

This is how it actually works:
The ‘deeper’ the honey has to do its job in the body, the higher the MGO should be. With deeper we mean targeting the deeper organs. If this is your goal, you want a MGO of 400+ or stronger.
But the opposite is also true! The more ‘superficial’ the honey has to do its job on the body, the lower the MGO can be. By ‘superficial’ we mean at the surface/skin level. If this is your goal a MGO of 100+ will do!

If you want to know more about this topic, we recommend this book from Detlef Mix: Manuka Honey – The all-round talent from New Zealand for your health and wellbeing. A great user guide with tips, case studies and recipes.

Oh by the way, this Manuka Honey is ab-so-lu-te-ly delicious, sooo from another league than the other honeys we have tried. Miracle worker for the skin and the body, true pleasure for the taste buds. What else can we ask for?!
